Pavel - Environment (vinyl) Rose/Turquoise Edition
12" pastel rose + turquoise vinyl of Pavel's "Environment" album
5 years after his debut album "Busy Being Broken", Pavel returns in 2024 with a new LP, this time dealing with the theme of the natural environment, host to all life on Earth.
"Environment" is a concept album based on samples recorded by the artist over several months throughout Switzerland. Rockfalls, lapping lake shores, crackling glaciers, winds piercing fir trees, the massive hum of a waterfall, clashing icicles, cave seepage and more. In a way, these audio recordings are Pavel's inventory of fixtures, which he then uses as a starting point to construct eight tracks faithful to his style: a distorded, elegant, melancholic and wickedly dramatic electronica.
For Pavel, "the pessimism of reason compels the optimism of will". This maxim, taken from Antonio Gramsci's "Cahiers de prison", sums up the essential message of the album.
